Sally Neumann, MA, LMHC

Welcome! I'm so glad you're here.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, overworked, or like you are a burden to others, you are not alone.

My name is Sally Neumann, and I am a mental health counselor based in Seattle, Washington. I work primarily with adults and adolescents, and focus on mitigating anxiety, depression, and building self-esteem.  I operate from a space of deep curiosity about your life, and a strong belief in the importance of your story and your agency over it.

It would be a gift to meet you and hear your story.

Education and Professional Experience

I earned a Masters in Existential-Phenomenological Psychology from Seattle University. It's a long, delightfully pretentious degree name that basically means I hold great esteem in getting to know your experience from your perspective, without muddling it with my own. It also means that I believe that periods of difficulty and stress are necessary, important parts of our lives that can help motivate us to a more authentic future.

Professionally, I worked for two wonderful years as a volunteer at Crisis Line. For another equally wonderful year, I worked at Seattle Therapy Alliance, providing psychotherapy for individual women. Last year, I worked as a counselor and case manager in transitional living programs for youth experiencing homelessness. Currently, in addition to my practice, I am the programs coordinator for Art with Heart, a nonprofit that uses therapeutic art books that help youth process trauma.

Outside of work, I enjoy trivia, re-runs of Bob's Burgers, writing, and reading fiction. Sometimes, we may even incorporate reading or writing in our sessions! I also love BBQ, but sadly, we will not incorporate that into our sessions.

I am currently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington. My license number is LH60733625.

Techniques and Philosophy

My techniques are varied, just like people. However, I generally operate from existential, feminist, and relational perspectives. I also incorporate mindfulness-focused practice when I believe it will be beneficial to the client.

Sometimes, we might work together to challenge your preconceptions about the world, which can certainly be uncomfortable. The good news is, change is generally born from discomfort, and I haven't met anyone yet who has come to therapy to keep things just as they are.

My greatest hope, is that through working together, you will feel seen, accepted, and empowered to create the world you want to live in.

Feel free to send me an email or give me a call, and I would be so happy to meet with you.
